Smile My new saddle!

It's been six long agonizing weeks, but my new saddle has finally arrived! It's a circle y proven splendora barrel saddle! Absolutely love it! It squeaks like crazy, but after reading some other posts, I think I'll try putting some baby powder on it to see if that helps!

Funny. I love saddle squeak. Always reminds me I'm doing something I love to do more than anything else in the world!

Careful about using too much baby powder or talcum on your saddle. It will pull the moisture right out of the leather. I would recommend using Neatsfoot oil. Moisten a rag with it and go over the undersides of the saddle jockeys and stirrup leathers. Don't soak the leather with it, though, because you can over-oil a saddle and it may stain clothing.

Saddle squeak is just a reminder to me that I need to ride more. I love the challenge of working the squeak out of a saddle. It also helps me realize my different movements, and refine my riding skills.

Thanks thenrie! I only used a small amount of baby powder. I wasn't sure how much and I was worried about it drying out the leather! Plus, I didn't want the "poof" of powder...lol. I will definitely try the neatsfoot oil!

Toymanator, I don't mind saddle squeak, but my horse did...this was "SQUEAK" beyond belief and my spooky horse spooked at the squeak...lol.
