Neck covers - do they have to attach?

So I bought a no-name heavy blanket and now I wish it had a neck cover. Can I buy a "generic" neck cover, and if so, does it have to attach to the blanket? I assume that yes, it should attach for safety reasons, a.e. I don't want the cover going up over his head, and I guess I could rig it myself by sewing velcro, but do all neck covers attach??

I partly wish I had just splurged for a rambo or other "set" that included one.

Generally, most of the neck covers I've seen will attach to most any blanket that has D-rings for a neck cover. I have a Rider's International blanket for my mare with a standard neck and decided to buy a neck cover a while later and it worked just fine.
