Exclamation Need answers ASAP please =)

Can I ride Western in an English headstall? I have to specially order my draft horse bridle. The bridle I want is English w/ a nose band. I don't like the look of the Western headstalls, but I ride Western. I ride w/ snaffles. My Clyde is untrained as of now.

If you are not showing, you can mix and match however you like.

yup if your not showing you can mix an match however you want lol and in some low level grade classes an such you could prob show in your english bridle if you removed the noseband an such...

Good luck with your clyde!!

I'm a tack Nazi and MUST have everything matched in color and for the discipline in which I'm riding.

But that's my old show ring training coming out, and you can ride your horse in whatever headstall you like as long as you're not showing.

If you're going to putz around with friends or trail ride, nobody will even question your choice.

I might snicker as you go past, but that's just my tack Nazi coming out and you're free to ignore me. ;)

The horse does not care what kind of bridle you're using...

lol. Thanks. I was reading that you have to ride with two hands when using an English bridle. Didn't make sense to me.

It's the particular riding discipline that requires two hands, not the type of bridle.

You can put any type of bit and reins you want on a headstall. If you want split, western reins, go for it.

And I ride Western on all my horses. My 2 geldings I ride 1 handed, but my mare does better when I ride 2 handed with her.

Horses are God's apology for men.
