Need help deciding on a saddle

I need help deciding which one I should trial and possibly buy. This saddle would be used for low level eventing, and while I will eventually get a dressage saddle, for now whatever I buy will have to do double duty.

Pelham Saddlery: Stubben Siegfried Used All Purpose Saddle 18 W(31 cm)

Pelham Saddlery: Stubben Imperator 18 W(30.5cm)All Purpose Saddle

I am kind of leaning toward the first one, because I know from experience that I am comfortable in it, and can have my stirrups at dressage length and at jumping length and make it work. The only problem with the first model is my knees are pretty darn close to the front of the knee rolls when I have my stirrups at jumping length in the seigfried I am using now. So, I am conflicted about if I should get the more forward one or not.

I have to double check the seat size on the one that I am using now. My trainer thinks its a 16.5 or 17, but I can't think that it is since I can fit my entire hand behind my butt and I usually need a 17.5.

Whichever one fits you and your horse best.
Seems like a simple answer, but it's very true. Some saddles simply won't feel right, and some won't fit your horse correctly - both are imperative to riding. Hire a saddle fitter, and find the right saddle for both of you - it's money very (VERY) well spent.

Well I am currently riding in a stubben siegfried that fits my horse really well, so I know what tree size I need, I am just wondering if I should get more forward flaps for jumping or if I don't really need a super forward saddle at the level I am at right now.

Keep in mind, not all saddles under one maker are created alike.

Oh wow, an Imperator at only $450!! I would snap that up in a heartbeat... If I had the extra cash on hand, I would buy it out from under you . I've been wanting one for a long time, but everytime they come in the size I need, they're either way to $$$ or I don't have the cash on hand to buy it... Story of my life. Lol They usually go for $800-1,200, no matter what condintion they're in.

The Imperator is a much nicer saddle than the Siegfried. You will likely need to ride shorter for your Dressage work than you do now, but your jumping will likely improve with this saddle.

Yeah, I keep going back to it, while I am not a fan of the color scheme I prefer it to suede knee rolls, that's for sure! I was just wondering if the flap would be too forward for dressage work, which is why I was considering the siegfried as well. Hmm this is so hard...ugh!

Stubbens are pretty close from what I have seen, but don't worry I will be doing a trial on it first.
