I agree about the German saddle.... If you like it and it fits, might as well go with it.
Otherwise, I also think going with a lightly used saddle of better quality would be best. eBay has plenty of nice brands for a good price.
The new HDR's are much nicer now, and Toulouse, Collegiate, Bates, Ovation, Circuit, maybe even some older Pessoas I think you could find with ease. I'm a bit of a leather freak, and Kincade and Camelot made me want to run away screaming to the Toulouses.

The german one was too wide, also (like my wintec) it sits at a weird angle on both my horses so I have to use one of those key hole/lolli pop things, what should i be looking for so I dont have to use one of those? So far my criteria is:
>16.5 or 17" seat,
>regular to narrow tree (i guess that can really depend between names)
>close contact/all purpose with a narrow twist

I try looking for some of those names on ebay, thanks guys!

I have a 17.5" Harry Dabbs close contact saddle that I LOVE but have no use for. It's a great quality English saddle that is no longer made, it's in wonderful shape and is a very nice looking saddle. Has a medium tree and narrow twist. It puts you in a super position and thus keeps you very secure. I normally need a 17" but this 17.5" doesn't seem any bigger. I bought it used and paid $675, it's in the same condition ( if not better with oiling) but I'd take $400 for it. if you're interested let me know and I can email you some photos!
