A saddle for just over 200?

Do you have an actual budget for this?

Then you have no options really other the started kits you'll find on online tack stores. If there is a local tack stores that sells used tack you might find something better that is used but in good condition.

If you really can't spend any money, you would be better off trying to get something like this on ebay than those starter packages:

I know how you feel. =] I can't afford to spend much on a saddle. But try checking out the used saddles at your local tack shops. Or maybe you will know somebody someday that will be extremely generous. (i know a girl who worked for a woman in florida and the woman gave her a $2,000 saddle) O_O if only that were you or me.

$200 is not going to get you the best saddle... however I've been searching for new saddles for our school horses and found some fantastic deals on some used Collegiates. It's a good quality saddle for the price that will fit most horses and put your leg in a decent position. (And a heck of a difference compared to those nasty cheap saddle packages). I've bought 2 so far for $225 + free shipping each (one had stirrups/leathers included) off tacktrader.com. It's worth a look, but seriously... I'd wait a bit longer, save a bit more, and get a better saddle.
