Need Help - Inspecting a Used Saddle to Buy

Hi, new to the forums and I am looking at getting a used saddle.

A bit about the saddle:
Maker: Easy Rider Saddle Co.
Model: The Rider
Condition: Well Used
Tree Size: 7" FQHB
Seat Size: 17"
Type: Owner says it's a "Roper"
Price: $200

Some Flaws:
Concho points need to be worked on (they are loose and are leather ties rather than screw conchos)
Cantle-seat joint is ripped and wood tree exposed
Fender is currently tied onto stirrup leather with bailing twine (not load bearing) seems to be just to keep the fender in place.

I have attached pictures I took of the saddle.

Some things I am concerned about:

What is that covering the wood tree? It's not rawhide.

With that odd tree covering frayed in some areas, what is the likelihood that the wood underneath has been damaged by water and moisture?

I can't find anything on the internet about Easy Rider saddle Co. Other than classifieds of people selling them.

Is that real wool or synthetic? Is it in decent condition?

Easy riders were nice, mid range saddles in their day. That being said, I wouldn't pay $200 for the saddle you just listed. To have a professional fix all the flaws, you are easily looking at $200. In my opinion, you could find a better saddle for that price.

Green Broke
It looks like fiberglass over the tree.

I agree, I wouldn't pay $200 for that saddle. With those repairs done to it it's worth $200. With all that needing done, it's worth maybe $75.

hey

I don't know much about western saddles as I ride english myself but you should deffo get a pro to check it out, maybe ask if you could fit it to your horse and see if it fits well it doesn't sound like a lot of money to me but over here a saddle like that would be rare and worth a lot more! :)
