    Need help with a saddle

Ve been looking at buying this one saddle, it's a used Collegiate(the exact one, I'm not sure) All that I know is that it's an older Close Contact.
Anyways, the seller said that it is a 17", Medium tree. I asked her to measure the gullet for me, and she says it's about 4 1/2"
The problem is, the saddle my trainer was using on my horse(it isn't mine) she said that the gullet was about 6", with a medium tree.

I'm not very good with saddle fitting, so I have no idea what to do. Is it even possible for a Medium tree to have a 4 1/2" gullet? I thought it was generally: Narrow= 4", Medium= 6", Wide= 8". I know this is really just an estimate, but still...

The girl who's selling is really only about a 1.5 hour drive away from me. Should I just buy it?(Asking price is only $275) and if it doesn't fit, just go ahead and sell it? Or try and take it on a trial to see if it fits my gelding?(but again, there is the whole issue about me not knowing how to properly fit a saddle) He's a 16.1hh 4y/o Canadian gelding by the way.
Would it be best to just get a saddle fitter out to help with it? If so, how much does that generally cost? I'm a little tight for money at the moment, so...
I was also searching up online, and I read that if the gullet is a tad to small, you can get a bit of stuffing taken out, and that would work also.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am super stuck...

If you look on the forum category tack and equipment ( where you just posted this question)
There is a thread that say, does your saddle really fit??
If you look at this thread, there is a video of a german trainer I believe, who shows you step by step how to properly fit a saddle.
    Really interesting and helpful :)
