Need opinions on saddle I'm considering

So I'm tired of my aussie saddle, too thin in the seat, been using my FIL high back western saddle for the past month or so, saw this on ebay, I only trail ride and like the back support of the high back saddle. It says it is based on a Montana style of saddle, we're from Texas and my wife says she has never seen a saddle with a horn like this or cantle so high, what do ya'll think?

I don't know much about western saddles, but I do know that a saddle with a horn like that is ussually used for roping. The high cantle would also say that. Nice piece of leather, though!

Who is the maker? It is a wade style tree which is probably the most popular western style saddle right now. I have one that I really like. The thing I might not like about this saddle is all the tooling on the seat. It also doesn't appear from the pictures to be a terribly well made saddle. Many companies that use cheap leather machine stamp tooling all over and add some cheap pieces of silver to make the saddle look better than it really is. The shape of the cantle doesn't appeal to me either. A quality saddle with that much tooling would run you over a $1000 Probably closer to $2000. If this saddle is alot less than that it is probably foreign made and not worth the money. If you would like a saddle like this one you can order a wade tree saddle from Corriente Saddle Company for about $600 and it will be at your door in a week. It will be brand new and if you sit in it and decide you don't like it or you need another size then you can send it back. I have ridden mine for several years and I love it.

I could be wrong and this could be a real well made saddle but from the picutes and the fact that the rear cinch is not on the saddle I kind of doubt it. If the price seems too good to be true then you will know for sure how high quality it is.

It looks pretty but sitting in it is key. I love my Aussie - but I also have a Billy Cook Trail Saddle and I just sold my Steele Saddle. (well, we agreed on price and it will ship soon!)

You might want to look at the Steele Trail Riding saddles. They are nice - this one just didn't fit me.

At first glance it looks very Pretty, but at second look, a few things just seem off.

How much are they asking and how much does it weigh, light weight and a cheap price are a dead give away.

A good American Made Saddle would run over 1,500.00 as a minimum, with all that tooling and silver (if either is quality) closer to 2,000.00

If it is a 500.00 Ebay Special, I would run......

This might be my very untrained western eye, but the fenders placed really far back?

The fenders do look a little far back and the horn is for roping. I was riding in one yesterday and I HATE the saddle because I feel no support. I like when the pommel or swell is a bit higher. The pommel on this one is higher than the one I rode in yesterday. It looks like it would have good back support but I do agree with Kevin.

I would not buy something on ebay unless you have tried the same model on your horse. Too many reasons why it may not work out.

Definitly better saddles with Corriente Kevin, $835 delivered, more than the $360 on the ebay saddle, but better value, just hafta save longer. I live across a pasture from the original NRS store, but their quote of $2,800 for a custom trail saddle is WAY too much for me, maybe some day...

They are worth it. The prices must have gone up alot.
