Question Need opinions on some western saddles I have picked out!

Hello, I have been wanting to get a western saddle for a few years now. I just keep looking and stuff. The saddle that I have piced out is the siara navada arena performance saddle by circle y in the Julie goodnight collection. The only problen is that is costs $2000! What do you guys think about this saddle? I really like style, and I hear that is is a very cumfy saddle.

So I can not affored that right now so I have been looking for some thing a bit cheaper so I can still ride but have a nice functional saddle. So here are some that have caught my eye.

This one has to be my fav by far BUT it's like almost past Miami so its might as wel be a whole state away. I sent him an email last night with questions about size and what not so I'll let ya'll know the answer when I get them. I rode in a friends wade type before and I really like the feel.

****WADE ROPING SADDLE FOR SALE!!!****

Here is onethat I found this morning. It's not really what I want but it is a whole $100 cheaper. Havent sent an email yet but I will.

I sent an email about this one but still havent gotten a reply since I sent it last night. So I don't have any pics

Horse Tack, Saddles & Services : Big Horn saddle, 16 1/2" great condition, black, good trail sadd

I have gotten an email back from this guy. This saddle is the same price as the one above. This would be my last choice. He didnt say what size tree it had so that kind of turns me off since I asked and didn't get a responce about that. But any way here it is. Not very good pics. They came of his phone. Pics are attached here.

Roping Saddle

Ok please tell me what you think. If you find some thing please show it to me or if you have one for sale please let me know. I really don't want to spend more than $450 total but it really depends on the saddle.

I have a friend who got the Julie goodnight, and LOVES IT! She replaced an old Circle Y with it, and was having issues fitting her wide QH.

I love bighorns and could be the spokesperson for the brand (if they didn't stop making saddles this year) I think for comfort and durability, you aren't going to find anything better for the price. That being said, without a picture it is hard to say what kind of saddle you are getting.

That wade tree saddle is sold on ebay every single day for about $350. I have never ridden one but they don't look very comfortable.

Roping saddles can be a difficult fit on a woman. They have a wide and flat seat. Something needed for roping. Trail riding, not so much. I have never ridden a roping saddle I liked.

Good luck!

What are you going to use it for? And what type of horse?

Saddles with ralide trees are durable and light, but they don't flex much - so a good fit becomes important. Flex tree saddles have some give, but cost more. Wood tends to cost still more, but you might find one used in decent shape. It will be tough at $500ish.

Western saddles include roping, barrel, trail, etc. Being a guy, I like them with a large flat area, rather than the kind that look like a check mark. I don't like being shoved against the cantle. I like low cantles, but high ones are more popular.

A lot depends on you and your horse.

yeah I guess that thoughs are rather important questions.

WEll I ride a QH mare she fits in most QH trees. I ride a bit of every thing lol. Mostly just puts around the paddoc because I board and there is no arena and every one trail rides on the week ends when I buisy. (not alowed out on my own)

I broke my tail bone when I was 12 and I find the roper saddle to be more comfy that others because of there shape.

I would recommend, along with watching Craigslist, keeping an eye on eBay for good brand, but used. Big Horns (but be careful, and I no longer would think about one without asking Corino......sorry but she said something last week about "fake ones"?" But there are lots of Tex tans and other pretty decent saddles every day. It is also an education on what stuff is really worth, IMO. There are also used Corriente's-I think there are a couple right now, and that is what smrobs likes...she rides a lot. I go on, check what is new every day.....doesn't take too long at all. I have no idea what the difference is in the pitch of the seat, but it seems that there are LOTS of barrel saddles on the market, and perhaps you could get one for less since there are so many out there. Good luck, but make sure it fits your horse!

Have you looked at tacktraders and horse clicks. You might find the saddle you want used at half price. I had a NICE new circleY that didn't fit my horse and I sold it for several hundred less than I paid. I didn't like the plactic look of the wade. The saddle after that said it was 15-20 pds if that is correct stay away from it. A saddle like that should weigh 35 or more pounds at a min. I liked the look of the last one also
