Question Need saddle advice

I am contemplating buying a used saddle(s) to use for a horse that I take weekly lessons on and have shown in a few BBN events - we will be doing BN next year. The saddle I currently use is a very worn, synthetic all purpose.

I'm torn on whether or not to spend the money and buy a leather dressage saddle and an all purpose/close contact, (in the $400-$800 range for each,) OR jsut buy a decent, leather all purpose saddle (in the $400-$600 price range,) OR by a Wintec all purpose 500 w/CAIR (in the $200-$400 price range.) I probably have to buy leathers and stirrups too if the saddle does not come with them or if they are beat up.

I have found many leather dressage and all purpose saddles for sale in numerous places on the Internet, most of which do not come with a trial period. So I am hesitant to buy off of the Internet when all I have to go on is a few pictures.

Could someone please shed some light on this very confusing decision for me?

why don't you try local tack shops? they normally have good used equipment, and i personally would buy a saddle from the Internet, because there is no trial period. You dont wanna be stuck with an ill fitting saddle. also, take a piece of wire, and bend it to the shape of your horses withers area (where the front of the saddle will fit), take that wire with you to the shop, place it on the inside on the saddles, and this will give you a basic idea how the saddle will fit even before you buy it!

If you get a saddle fitter to find out what saddles works on your horse, write down the brand, width, model, size etc and then go shopping on the net :)
Remember that the same size can differ a lot in different brands.

Always keep your head up, but be careful to keep your nose at a friendly level.
