Need some info on Thornhill saddles and a particular model of Thornhill.

There's a used Thornhill that I've been eying for awhile, it's a older Thornhill
Candy Man special addition. Anyone ever owned one and if they did can they tell me about the fit and how comfy it was.
I'm wondering about the Thornhills in general as in do they run true to size both in the tree and the seat.
Any info would be appreciated.

I have Thornhill Vienna and it was a best fit out of bunch saddles I tried including pricey Black Country. I absolutely loved Thornhill Klasse when I tried it, but it was not such a good fit so I stick with Vienna. I also tried A/P (don't remember the model, I believe it was Pro-Trainer) and it was VERY comfy!

Hmmmm.... Frankly I don't know. I tried size 18 every time and they all felt about the same to me (I tried 3 dressage saddles, A/P, and 1 or 2 CC). On other side my Collegiate A/P is 17 and about same size as my Vienna. Go figure! What I know for sure though you have to be careful about the tree size. 34 size Klasse was VERY wide on my horses while 34 size Vienna was pretty good (I ended up with 32 size Vienna). Also keep in mind that Thornhill is one of those saddles designed for wider horses. I don't think it's the best choice for light-build TB (although I can be wrong  ). Not saying you have TB or light horse, just making a comment! :)

Val, appreciate the advice, I've got a Quarter Horse and have found a wide or a spring tree works for him. The saddle I'm looking at though is out of state so I guess I'm going to have to find one at one of the tack shops and see if it fits. Guess that's the only down side of finding a saddle outta state.

Yes, look for something with trial policy - in my experience it's VERY important (although my horses are rather hard to fit). Best luck!
