    New bit

I think I should change the bit of my pony Gretal. She is currently been ridden on a dutch gag but a few people have said I should change it to something lighter. She is quite strong especially out hunting and doing jumping any ideas ???

If you change it to something lighter without putting in the appropriate amount of schooling then it is very likely that you will have no control at all in a milder bit.

The main thing is that she needs more schooling to teach her to actualy listen to you no matter what the situation.

Don't you just hate finding the right bit!! My Connemara X was in a dutch gag (she is very strong) but she was fighting against it all the time so we decided to put her in a Hackamore which she really hated. Now she is actually in a french link snaffle!!! Even though she is very strong she goes really soft in that bit as it's not putting poll pressure on which the gag is bad for. Any strong bit that puts on poll pressure she just fights against.
