New saddle....what kind of saddle pad?

So I bought a new ( to me ) saddle today, but i'm a little stumped as to the pad to use with it.

It is a CTK saddle ( originally sold through Sycamore Creek Saddles in TN ), gaited tree, 17" but fits like a 16". CTK is made in Colombia for Paso Finos and other gaited horses and all the reviews I read are positive. I took a complete wire form of Rylen's back, not just his withers, to ensure the best chances of a match. I would say it's very close to a perfect fit based on the wire form, but I will be throwing it on him tomorrow to make sure.

The dilemma comes in that the underside is not fleeced like a regular western saddle, but quite well padded, more like an english saddle. As such, I don't know if I should use my 1" wool pad, but I'm thinking something a little thinner would be better. Maybe a 1/2" pad?

Overall it is in great shape. It came with a regular cinch, a centerfire cinch and a breast collar and crouper ( neither of which I've ever used ). I love the stirrups especially because they're hung on a 90 degree angle, so no twisting required! Brought it home for $500....now I just have to sell my other saddle....

I think I'd just go with a thin wool pad, 1/2" should be plenty.

I wasn't able to find a thin wool pad to try, but I did borrow a friend's very thin pad with waffle-weave bottom.....

.....I don't think sweat marks get any more perfect then this
