New Shoes and a Ten Mile Ride?

I need to bring my horse back to my grandmother's farm and its about ten miles away. I can take a back road and then a trail the rest of the way and I have a four-wheeler escort, but my horse is currently barefoot and I am having her shod for the trip. Do I need to wait after I shoe her or can I shoe her and hit the trail right after?

Thanks!

Don't forget to pack a lunch for you, the horse and the escort and enjoy the day. Everyone needs water too.
