    New Tack- Need Help

I just got some old horse tack from a neighbor- I am absolutely thrilled, as most, if not all of it, is in working condition, and only has a few scuffs here and there. I have a couple questions about some of it though:

    1. There is an english breast collar in there. How do I go about using that, as it has a piece going across it...I don't deal with English too much...is it perhaps a martingale or what...I sounds so stupid LOL, I just want to know if I can use it on my western saddle, since I don't have a leather breast collar.

    2. There were like two tail bags, the kind you have to braid. How do I do it correctly? My pally has a long white tail that I want to keep clean and not stepped on.

    3. There were some bits that I am not familiar with- does anyone have the link to the thread with all the english bit information? I can't find it.

    4. There were polo wraps with the quilts. When do I use the quilts- any time I wrap, or just for shipping and standing for long periods?

Quilts you would use when making a standing wrap, possibly for shipping as well.

For the breast collar I am assuming that there are the natural 3 pieces in a T but there is a piece conecting the 2 parts of the horizontal part of the "T" then it's still a breast collar and that's considered a wither strap, to keep the collar up off of the shoulders. I still use a wither strap on me old western breast collar

There should be a sticky at the top called english bits.

Be sure you don't use quilts under polos-- for standing wraps you need to use standing bandages.

Thank you very very much kitty :) And yes, you are correct about the brest collar. Would that go over the wither then, i'm assuming?

And thank you sunny as well :)

Yes as sunny said, don't use the quilts under the polos, only under standing wraps, polos are much to thick to use with quilts.

Not the greatest pictures but here is how I have mine set up. If the wither strap wont unhook from the actual breast collar then I would slide it over the horses head and then hook it that way, but if it does connect then that makes thing easier.

But here are my pictures. I made mine using a throat latch from an old bridle lol

Oh how neat! Thanks :) Yea, that will be perfect for Texas, becuase this one seems a little big, and that should keep it from slipping.
