Now to clean those buckles??!!

Friend of mine got really old western saddle, and those buckles on it looks like hmmmmmm junk. They all seems to be moldy and somewhat rusty... So... How to clean them? (and to keep leather intact)

Try toothpaste. If that doesn't work, try a metal polish like Nevr Dull. I've used it on mine before with great results, you just want to be careful of the leather.

I have had amazing luck with this stuff I got at Wal-Mart called Weiman Silver Cream. It doesn't have any corrosives in it and is very mild. I used it on all the silver on my saddles after the fire and it works great without damaging the leather.

I second the toothpaste, but I doubt it will do anything for the rust

Conchos are pretty easily replaced...especially if they are just the decorative types. Sometimes when they are just too far gone Ill just replace them.
