Question Is it okay to use a garbage bag to store you harness?

Hi all-
I went to go dig up my harness for my two miniature horses. Well, it was very dirty, and dusty from being stored through the winter.
I also have realized some holes in the fleecy fabric on the chest pad ( I don't know what to call it, like the part your horse pulls on??)
Anyway, i'm going to clean it good and get the holes fixed, but the thing is, I don't have a harness bag to store it in, and I know that it will just get dusty and dirty without even being used. But right now i'd rather not spend the money on a harness bag. Is it okay to use a garbage bag for a little while??

Garbage bags retain moisture, so if you don't want your tack mildewing, I certainly wouldn't be using one.

Any cloth bag should work well; it doesn't have to specifically be a bag designed for tack.

Next time at walmart get a laundry bag that isn't mesh but made of cloth... or if you hang it up in the tack room cover it with an old bedsheet

If you are even the least bit handy with a sewing machine, an old bed sheet can be made into a decent bag - I had my wife make several for me for different tack.
