Finally found a saddle that fits Gun, an old 1940's hardseat. It's very pretty, but has gotten stiff from disuse. I'm giving it a good soak with Skidmore's, and the gent I bought it from cleaned it, replaced the latigo and billet, fleece, and the saddle strings. It has a few small rips I'm going to have repaired, have some breast collar and saddle bag dee's added, but nothing big.
What else can I do to soften up the old leather? Also, it has a lower cantle than I'm used to...do I need to change the way I sit my seat?
