Ok, here are some pictures of the tree, pretty tooling, new seat leather, and old flocking. Yuckk...

Oh, and did I mention there were mouse droppings and mold on this thing when I started?

Edit: Tooling pictures were after 1 good scrub with glycerin bar soap.

Oops, here's the tree pic.

And note, the dark spot on the tree is not a crack, just a discoloration of the wood.

Still waiting for thread, so I buffed up the leather with some beeswax/glycerin mix. ;)

I had a saddle come in for cleaning and new strings. The saddle had be untouched for about 10 years and whoever had saddlesoaped it left all the white residue in all the depressions in the tooling. Even after wetting the leather it wouldn't budge with the toothbrush. It became a toothpick job. It did look good when I'd finished.

Wow, that doesn't sound fun. I gently cleaned the crevices with a toothbrush before I began. :)

I wish I knew how to strip a saddle down and give it a through cleaning. Do you give lessons? Tehe.

Looks great so far, can't wait to see the finished product!
