Opinion on this saddle please

I am thinking of buying this saddle and just wanted to get an opinion on it and what others think it is worth. It is Amish made. I plan on using it on my 16.2 Percheron. I have not ridden in it yet but have sat it on him to get an idea of fit and so far so good.

.

Amish Made?

The stirrups and the way the rear cinch is made are a tell tell sign that it was made in India.... leather looks a little thin for American made too

.

May all your Trails be happy and safe ones

The girl I am thinking about getting it from swears it came from the Amish. I don't know enough about them to even begin to make a call. Though I do not agree with the thin leather. The leather quality is actually very nice, something pictures really can't show. Thanks for your honest opinion... I was hoping to get more though. Hoping to try it out this afternoon... after all in the long run its all about how it fits the horse and me :)

Well guess it shows what I know LOL... I really liked it... I love the look... have been interested in an Aussie saddle and this was like a mix of aussie and western so it really caught my eye. Not sure what's cheap about it... the rigging looks as solid as my others... but again... I"m no kind of saddle expert... She want's $200 for it... I told her I'd let her know after I had a chance to ride in it.

Asian made, not Amish. Must have been a slip of the tongue. Lol. There is a list of things wrong with this saddle. 1. Stirrups could pinch the rider's upper leg. 2. The skirts at the back should follow the horse's contour a little, not be flat like these. 3. The air channel should be clear to allow the best air movement. 4. The tree is purposely concealed. The leather will be urine tanned not veg tanned like our north american tanned saddle leather. I am going to strongly recommend you not purchase this saddle, at least to use on a horse. The seller will tell you whatever she thinks you want to hear. I won't.

The first clue that it's not a real good saddle is that it's $200. A nice saddle should cost about 5 times that. Saddles are one of the few things that you can generally judge the quality by the price. I'm buying a custom made saddle that will run me about $2400 but good factory saddles are anywhere from 700-1500.

wow... definetly rethinking this saddle. I am not looking for a $2,500 saddle for sure, not for what I am doing now at this stage in life. But I do want something that is safe and comfortable for my horse first, me second. Yes the look caught my eye... what can I say lol.

I have bought a bunch of saddles in my day and there are good deals on saddles just like everything else. If the saddle fits you and your horse, buy it and maintain it & there is no reason you shouldn't get years of use out of it. I am currently riding a saddle I had custom made for my horse & I paid $1200 for it and quality of the leather and workmanship is superb. I have also spent alot of time in cheap/less expensive saddles and neither myself nor my horse suffered from it.
