Yup, last I heard. I'll have to check over the saddles and see if there is a "made in" stamp on them anywhere. I believe Wintec/Bates owns the factory they're made in, which helps with quality control.

I see.... Bates is considered to be very nice though. I guess they have really tough quality control there!

Wow...haha...that was um interesting to read.

I'm don't know a lot about western tack and was wondering what I should pay attention too. What should I measure. My pony is pretty narrow. I still have to measure him I just want to make sure I am measuring correctly. He is 13hh-13.2 somewhere around there. This would be my first saddle so I need all the help I can get. I did try to contact Wintec but haven't gotten a reply yet. I think I have found one place that would be willing to ship to me, still waiting for a reply. I have also found some on Ebay too just not a lot of people willing to ship. The joys of living on an island.

The "junk" thing was enlightening but not that helpful. There are good and bad products where ever you go.

Thanks for the brand suggestions I have been looking at their sites.

Besides, I have seen a common notion that a lot of people start speaking against something without even experiencing it by themselves. You are 100% correct, it does not matter where Hilason is made!

The fact is, wherever it is made it, a Hilason is a sad excuse for a Saddle, they fall apart, pure and simple.

Anyone want proof?, just Google "Hilason Saddles" 70% of the people who have purchased them will tell you what kind of Junk they are.....

There are so many bad reviews on them it amazing they are still around, but a P.T. Barnum once said " there is a ****** born every day"
