Does anyone have one of these? I need a new vest, one that is ASTM Certified/Approved and the Ovation is. I would ideally like a Rodney Powell but they are wayyyy out of my price range. I want to be safe for this season!
So, if anyone has any experience with these vests, PLEASE let me know!
I don't but I'd love to hear the experience. All I tried felt like cardboards (flex rider, charles owen and whatever else is in stores around). Those really nice ones (Tipperary and Casel Ultra) were not certified. I wonder how this one feels.
That's what I wonder. It's funny I talked to my trainer and she said she still prefers tipperary to any certified. Mostly because it's very flexy, so she has more room and freedom to move from horse's way if something happens. I personally don't have any experience with vests so can't comment on that.
you really just have to get used to them, after you've worn one a couple times you dont even notice it anymore & it doesnt affect your riding at all. i think it would be crazy to go out on xc with out a certified vest, i cant believe how many people [esp upper level riders] wear the tipperary vests.
Thanks for your input! I'm hoping that I can try a Rodney Powell on at Rolex this year but I would really like to not shell out a couple hundred dollars.
It really is all about getting used to a vest. Tipperarys are comfortable but are not certified and that makes me nervous. MANY ULR's still use Tipps and I wonder what goes through their mind. Advanced is the most dangerous level in eventing and they are using something that could possibly not protect them?! Weird.
I actually heard that Powell vest is extremely comfortable. I was trying to find it around to try, but noone seems to know about it. Let us know your experience if you'll be lucky to try it!
