Packing a saddle

Today I had to box up a saddle. The stirrups were removed to better enable the fenders to criss-cross underneath. Why is it that just as the saddle is being lowered into the box, one is suddenly dealing with an octopus that doesn't want to go in there. As I got one fender off the side of the box, the off billet jumped over the side. As that one was freed, the fender on my side refused to get in the box. Got that in and the stirrup leather hung on for dear life. Finally it was freed and the octopus/saddle settled nicely into the box. The top was quickly closed and taped before this creature decided to climb out of the box again.
Wallaby and kevinshorses like this.
