Polo Wraps

What do polo wraps do?

When would you need them?

How can I tell if they would benefit my horse or not?

Protect from bumps and brushing when doing flatwork. They do not support, just protect. They are mostly used in dressage and flatwork training.

When you are schooling flatwork and dressage.

If you are doing dressage and flatwork mainly and want to protect your horse. DO NOT POLO WRAP UNTIL YOU CAN PROPERLY WRAP! Or you could seriosly injure your horse.

I prefer galloping boots to polo wraps. They are easier to clean and easier to apply. If I'm looking for support, I use SMBs.

If you want to use polo wraps, find a good trainer, vet or other horseperson experienced in wrapping legs to show you how.

I use polo wraps for support when im working on collection and stuff. I must say, I have always been taught by dressage people that they do support.

If there are no horses in heaven... im not going.

I think it depends on how they are wrapped as to whether they provide support. If you cup them around the fetlock then they probably do to an extent. If you wrap without cupping the fetlock, then they just protect from bumps and bruises.

I use polo wraps on my icelandic horses and I just looked for how to put them on at the internet. I use them to protect my horse from hitting his front legs but that can be a little proplem with the icelandic when doing a very hard work. I use them when I'm doing flatwork and collection trot. I love them!

If they don't have horses in haven, I'm not going.
