Polo Wraps and Boots :D

What do you use polo wraps and or boots for?

Do you always put them on for working a horse?

What do you think are the benefits of using boots on a horse when jumping?

What do you think are the benefits of using polos on a horse when doing flatwork or small jumps?

Love to hear everyone's replies

I use splint boots and polo wraps if I plan to run my horse (Barrel racing, pole bending, etc.) They protect the back legs from comingup and clipping the front legs, and depending on the style of boots or wraps (Full leg wraps, hoof boots, polo, splint, etc.) they can offer more support and absorb shock.

I use pole wraps to protect the legs from brushing. I do a lot of lateral movements and a horse stepping poorly might hit themself. I also jump with boots. While I don't think they offer much in the way of tendon support, they help if the horse hits a pole.

I use polos to keep my horses legs warm, and keep her circulation going, esp in the winter. They kind of work like an ace banadge (when wrapped properly), they give some support. I prefer smb boots if im looking for fetlock support/ protection. I use splint boots for horses who don't jump square, so they don't knock their legs up. Or if they get brusing injuries.

It depends on what you're doing with your horse. Polo wraps generally are used for support, like in dressage. They must be wrapped correctly, so do your homework before just wrapping them on your horse. Have a trainer or someone who knows what they're doing help you out the first time you use them, to prevent injury to your horse's legs.
