ok is there a difference between front and back medicine boots? I bought 2 pairs of medicine boots the same size and color and am wondering if they can be used for the front and back legs on the same horse. I didn't buy the 4 pack and now I am wondering if the back ones are made different .
The difference is that they are configured to fit either the front or the back legs. They will not fit properly if you use back boots on the front legs and visa versa. Personally I would not use boots on legs they were not made for.
If they are like soaking boots, it doesn't matter. If they are like SMB or Barrel Racing boots that wrap around the cannon bone then it DOES better as the hinds are usually built differently than fronts.
Some brands they specifically have boots for front and hind. Some do not.
Personally, I use the Professionals Choice SMB 3 sport boots on all 4 legs of my horses. There is not a difference for front and hind and with the SMB 3.
However, if you do the SMB VenTech Elite, then yes, there is a difference for front and hind.
So pay attention to which EXACT boot you have. Depending on the brand and depending on the style of the boot, it may or may not be "front" or "hind".
