Purpose of a nylon sheet?

At the last show I did, they gave away tack prizes for 1st-3rd placings.
I came back with five firsts- and five nylon sheets.

They're made by Weaver, and very sturdy.
I'm not one to have a ton of blankets around, mainly because it doesn't get very cold here, so I never have to really layer or anything like that.
I just have a medium weight turnout, show scrim, and a cooler. And now five nylon sheets. Sad thing is, they don't really fit any of my other horses. They're even a tad small for my gelding... So it's not like they're all getting use. Basically, just taking up space now.

I assume it could be used for things like layering under the turnouts, or just as a light sheet? They're great wind breakers. I've loved it for trailering, especially during windy days. I can't see using it much in the summer, as my gelding is always warm under it. Just at night maybe before shows. Again-great wind breaker. Nothing really breathes much through there.

So what exactly are they do to, and what do you use them for?

There just that - great wind breakers. They provide that light touch of warmth when it starts getting cool and a horse doesn't have its winter coat. I've used them plenty of times in the mid-late spring/early-mid fall when my gelding's winter coat isn't quite what it should be. Of course, this winter I body clipped him, so he'll definitely wear his.

If they don't fit, I definitely think you should sell them and make a little $$$. After all, you worked hard for them!

Thanks. It's basically what I figured they were for. My gelding never gets much of a coat (perfect for local winter shows!), and has already almost shed out what little he had, so I've used it quite a bit lately when it's not quite cold enough for his turnout. I just wasn't sure if that was what it was meant for.

I would sell, but they have the show name and year monogrammed on them, so I can't sell them easily, other than local to people who don't care about the monogramming, and just want a good sheet. I did give one away to a friend that I show with. So, down to four. They sort of fit my mare, but she's a fur ball, and retired, so I really have no use for her to ever wear it...I guess I'll just be stocked with 2012 sheets for the next several years.
