I have a couple of them, both are waterproof and fit correctly. I live in WA, NW Seattle where it rains more then half the year, I use it if I'm going out on a trail ride on a rainy day or when my horse if clipped I use it fir my warm up and cool down. Just helps keep the horses back warmer and dryer in the colder season. My horse loves his! It's like a cozy blankie when we streching our legs on the trail and rant doing hard work! I don't use it if I'm jumping or anything more then a warm up trot. Would t want it moving around and making him un easy!

Also handy if you're hanging around waiting for your class at a show. You can get 'wraparound' versions which cover your legs - great in winter when it's flippin' f-f-freezing ;)

Totally agree. I was at a hunter/jumper show yesterday in 40F weather with pouring rain all day, flooding, and awful wind. Luckily we were indoors, but the temperature was about the same--just no wind. Most of the riders had quarter sheets and I was sorely wishing for one, though Excel is in great shape and barely broke a sweat during our jumper classes. Instead I threw a cooler over his bum. Did the job, but I'm still going to buy a quarter sheet for next time.

I love the big kind that wraps around your legs!

Everyone else beat me to answering the original question.
