Whisks has No withers and she's relatively fat, i'm considering a treeless saddle or just a plain bareback pack? Curious if anyone uses these. Attachment 75775 |
A regular bareback pad will work for Whisks, but it may not work for you if you are not a relatively experienced, balanced rider. Bareback pads are essentially saddle pads with stirrups, they do not provide a whole lot of structure and support. You can take a look at some of them here,

If you do not have a great seat or are not secure when riding at ALL gaits bareback, you may find yourself feeling a bit less than secure. Also, since she is round, you may find the pad wants to slip.
A treeless saddle is probably a better option because it provides the security of a regular saddle. There is not a huge difference in a how a treeless saddle will feel when you are riding, though it may seem a bit less rigid. Just make sure whatever model you look at buying is relatively balanced to avoid weight distribution problems.
