recommendations for western saddle- trail/ pleasure

I don't know much about western tack so I would like to hear everyones recs for a good comfortable trail/pleasure saddle. I will probably buy used so a good brand that can really hold up would be great!

Thanks!!!

I am partial to the Circle Y brand myself, but Crates are also nice. I'm sure others will chime in with their preferences...there are several manufacturers of higher quality saddles to choose from.

Circle Y is my favorite - I have two and have used them for years and years and they still look great. I also have an Abetta synthetic and I like it - it only weighs 17 pounds and it's easy to handle. I have friends who swear by the Tucker brand - you have a lot of choices out there!

Depends on the age of a Circle Y. The older saddles were great, some of the newer ones not so great.

Crates is an excellent brand as are the older Herefords. It really gets down to personal preference and what feels best to you. Just stay away from imported stuff like you see that are so cheap on Ebay.

I LOVE Circle Y and LOVE Crates... I own one of each and id say they are pretty comparble... I PERSONALLY don't like Billy Cooks as I find they fit badly but whatever floats your boat!! Good Luck with you search!!

I have a CY park & trail and love it. But it doesn't fit either horse. It does fit the twh but the skirt is too big for him.So I don't use it anymore but hate to part with it because it is well made. I think I bought it back in 04. I now ride in a older Eli Miller buena vista and it is a nice comfy saddle.

I prefer a Billy Cook cow horse saddle that is a close contact. This is the saddle I use for ranch cutting and team penning. This saddle is also very comfortable for trail riding.
