Responding better to different types of saddles?

Recently I've noticed that Sonny responds better to different types of saddles...mostly stopping.
He stops pretty well in a western...occasionally we'll have some issues, but usually it's fine.
He also stops okay in an AP saddle...though not at good as the western.
And stopping him in a dressage saddle takes ALOT more time and work.

I've never heard of a horse responding better to different types of saddles...bits, yes...but saddles, no.
Would this be considered "normal"? Or is he "special"? Haha

Yearling
My horse stops on a dime if I'm bareback, but saddled up takes a bit longer.
