Okay I need some advice! I just bought a new saddle for my horse and it fits him pretty well, except it's kind of close to the withers. I was wondering if using a riser pad would be my best option for a better fit. My horse is part thoroughbred, and so he has pretty high withers... So before I spend the money, I want to make sure that what I'm getting will really work. Here's what I'm looking at:
If it's close to your horses withers you don't want something to lift the back of the saddle (which is what that will do). Your best best is a front riser. I bought one from Greenhawk a while back, it's called ProLite. I bought mine for 100$, but search around on the internet and you might be able to find a front riser for less money. Good luck!
I have one that I got for free and my horse had back issues so we put that on her untill I got a new saddle which a week later. It has helped her a lot and she has had no soreness. It would be a good investment in my opinion. Do you know how close it comes down to his withers?
