First, unless you are south of the equator, which is in winter, this is NOT urgent. Your best bet is to wait unti lyou get the horse and measure for size, or ask the current owner. Then , yes, it will depend upon the horse and where you live. I have a draft cross that is too hot in more than a med wt blanket in the dead of january in upstate NY, and another who will need that to survivie winter in VA. The current owner may be able to guide you. I will say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Riders international blankets and sheet that Dover Saddlery has. THey are 1200 Denier (the higher the number the tougher the blanket, generally) and very reasonable. Mine have ALL worn very well, and if there is an issue, they replace the blanket. (mud and all-just sent one back this spring!)
Congrats, and enjoy, but there really is time for this one.....the horse will NOT melt, I promise!
