Question Running Martingales - Yea Or Nay?

I've done some research on Standing and Running martingale, now I'd like to know what everyone else's opinion on the use of one is. Is it a training crutch, or is it useful?

I'm not a fan of standing martingales, but I have no problem with a properly adjusted running martingale. When they're used correctly, they don't come into play unless the horse's head is dangerously high.

So, a running martingale would be good for a young horse?

I use a running martingale on my coming four year old. I haven't needed it yet, but I have it there just in case. I really don't want a broken nose because a turkey flushes from a bush right in front of him. :P
