Saddle

I bought my self a barrel saddle with a matching breast collar/headstall a few months back for $340 brand new. I'v ridden in it maybe about 10 times.. and I only put one real ride on it. When I got it, it had some scratches and a piece of leather looked a bit torn when it came out of the box. One concho for the back cinch is cracked a bit to. I found a better saddle and selling this one, how much would you guys sell it for? And how much would S&H be with 20lbs?, approx?

Can't see the pic of the Saddle that well to estimate a price, any name brand on it?

Shipping goes more by Box Size than weight and also distance, most saddle boxes for Western are about 28x20x18
So shipping could run 35.00 to 85.00 depending on how far it ships and whether you use UPS or USPS
They have calculators on Shipping, Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Management from UPS and www.usps.com - be sure to use box size in figuring price and weight would be about 35lbs with box.

You could probably sell it for about $100 since it's low quality and was slightly damaged out of the box.

To the right people you can sell it for maybe 300- Try to take it to an auction where you'll know there will be a ton of girls who'll like it.

Well when you do find a buyer and need to ship it, go fedx ground. I sell alot of stuff (including saddles from time to time) and the heavier stuff goes fedx. UPS charges $60 + and I can pack about 25lbs (a little more or little less) in a HEAVY cardboard (I pack stuff up good and tight) box, with whatever is inside wrapped twice in plastic and packed to the hilt with bubble wrap or styrafoam and it ships anywhere in the lower U.S. For around $20 bucks.

Don't use the UPS express stores like Pack N Mail or places like that - you will get charged double because they have to make a profit to support the store. Go to your nearest FedX center (distribution/shipping) and send from there. Tracking and insurance for up to $500 won't cost any extra.

Good luck, you will need to market it to someone who has no idea about quality saddles.

You could try ebay. You probably could get around $250 or so on there, if you start the auction fairly low people will get interested and might get caught up in the heat of bidding.
