    Saddle Advice?

I am in the process of buying a Morgan mare. I am looking for a nice, Western show saddle for her, but I have no idea what kind of tree I need. My trail saddle has semi-QH bars, but I haven't put it on her before. It fits my Morgan gelding just fine, but I've been looking on a lot of sites that say you should use an Arabian saddle on Morgans. Is that true? They're a lot more expensive than the other saddles I've seen.
Any help/advice on this would be nice.

Try your trail saddle on your gelding and see how it fits. If it's too tight, then you may need Full QH bars or Arabian bars. You won't know until you start trying on saddles. If you have a tack or saddle repair shop not too far from you, you might call them and see if you can bring your horse down and try different saddles on him until you find one that fits.

Another important factor with Morgans, or it can be anyway, is the saddle length. The front concho should be in the pocket behind his shoulder (about 1-2" back) and the skirts should be no further back than the middle of his flank.

Good advise. I'll add one more thing and that is the condition of your horse now and in a few months. If you will be putting weight and muscle on your horse over the next few months, you need to take that into consideration.
