Saddle brands? What's good and what's not?

Ok, we've been having some trouble with saddles as of late and I want to buy a good saddle but not sure what brands are considered great/good and poor/bad.

We have an Abetta 16" that I ride in and I love it. Its comfortable, its stable and it fits the horse great.

We bought a synthetic 17" that I think its a piece of junk. It seems to go up high in the cantle area and sits lower and snugger towards the pommel. I don't like it at all, it wouldn't sit flush, won't stay put and you constantly have to adjust yourself in it.

The other saddle we have is a 15" leather that the cinch connection literally came apart its first time on a horse. It was used so we're just out the money there. Glad that happened before we were riding in it.

So we're looking for a saddle to put on a wide quarter horse for trail riding purposes and 17" in seat size. Anyone have a saddle like that that they absolutely love that could recommend a brand? My husband will probably need a padded seat too, he's got a bad back.

I absolutely love my Wintec Western All-Rounder. It can be ordered in FQHB with a 17" seat and it's synthetic, so you don't have to be worried about getting caught out in the rain. Wipe it down with a sponge to clean it. It also comes with a 5 yr warranty on the tree. It's very lightweight, so he shouldn't have problems lifting it onto the horse with his bad back.

I second the wintec all-arounder. Both my friend and I have them and love them. They are several years old and still comfy. I replaced my nylon chinch straps with leather (personal preferance) and got rid of the plastic stirrups and got the padded endurance style.

The love for a horse is just as complicated as the love for another human being...If you never love a horse, you will never understand.
