The horse is standing with it's RR cocked. If you look at the hips you can see that.

The best thing to do is put a white pillow case under the saddle pad. Ride until the horse is good and warm. Take the pillow case off and look at the sweat marks and look at the horse for any swirl patterns on the coat.

Thank you, All! Yes, she stands crooked even though I tried to move her around to make her straight. The saddle is from the store, and they told me they checked for soundness (by bending it etc., they gave me details on how they check trees). Which of course doesn't mean tree itself doesn't have issues as it's an older saddle.

Yeah, if the reflocking will run around $200 doesn't make sense to go with it then given a price they want for it now (which I hoped to bring down if it'd be a good fit). I think I going to pass... Thanks again!

Glad I am not the only one who saw that At least Kitten cleared it up!

I'd say pass on it too Kitten. I greatly dislike the gullet channel width...way to narrow.

If you are going to invest in a saddle, definitely make it a saddle that is good quality all round. I really don't know much about this particular saddle brand, but by looking at the gullet channel width, I'd of passed on it personally. A gullet channel that narrow, will put pressure on the muscles around the horses spine, not allowing those muscles to strengthen and develop.

You want to beable to fit at least 4 fingers inbetween those pannels, and definitely at least 3 fingers inbetween the panels at the back of the saddle. To me, it appears that you can barely get 2. To narrow.

If you get a chance to take a look at the M.T's - flip one over and look at their gullet channel widths. Nice and wide. You can run 3 to 4 fingers inbewteen those panels from pommel to cantle.

    Thanks, MIE! :)

I actually tried one of the MT models last year and it didn't fit her (wasn't TOO bad, but my saddle fitter advised to pass because it was pinching on very back). I may get another one to see how it fits (trying to get as many as I can before saddle fitter will come lol!).

Not to hyjack your post, Kitten, but...

I talked to someone earlier who said 4 finger width was unheard of!!! I knew from watching the Schleese vids she was loco but wanted to say thank you for clarifying!

Chele, depends on fingers too! I picked MT yesterday at Dover (keep fingers crossed it'll fit!), and I can stick 3+ fingers on back.

^^ That is great Kitten! I am excited for you! See, told you, the gullet channel width in M.T's are fabulous!

With my Harry Dabbs, I can get 3 fingers with some room to spare, from the Pommel to the Cantel. I like that, because that means the pannels are not resting on the muscles around the spine, but moreso on the ribs. That way, the horses back can recieve oxygen to the muscles so that they can develop and stengthen and the horse will be more inclined to raise his back up into your seat.

I can't wait to hear about the M.T Kitten!

He-he... Don't hold your breath, MIE! I myself definitely don't. Lol! I didn't like the front panels much (well, not like "didn't like the quality", but they didn't look the shape I need), but everything else I looked at there (Dover) looked even worse (awesome leather though - I picked MT premia). I'm picking couple saddles from other place as well so will see. She's hard to fit horse unfortunately. :( I'll post some pics as long as I get them! :)
