Just make sure that the back edge of the tree (not the back edge of the skirt) does not go past the last rib that attaches to the horses spine . I forget what number rib it is, but the weight bearing portion of the saddle must not go further back than that last rib.

Green Broke
So I put the saddle where you guys suggested and its either my saddles weird or her bodys weird because I can't go too much farther back or the saddle is on her butt. I put the saddle about a finger and a half behind the shoulder blade...I think she's got an akward body! Am getting another saddle soon so maybe if it's my saddle we will see how this new one is. But I definitely think its her conformation...she's got a short back and by the time you put the saddle behind her shoulders the back of the skirt is already halfway on her butt and I feel like im riding on her butt. :S

Dont worry for my horse I can't use a saddle that is over a 24 in skirt... talk about a short back!!
