Saddle hunting time!

This will be mainly used for pleasure and small local shows. I plan on doing walk/trot, not a whole lot of canter work just because my guy is old and has stiff days. I can't decide if I should get a close contact or AP. Sometimes I slip into a chair seat when I do the huntseat thing, but I finally found a trainer to work with me on it. My guy has some serious withers, and not much of a topline yet. I have an older County WB dressage saddle that fits him decently. It's a tad wide, but it gives good clearance over his withers, and he has an even sweat pattern with it. Need to stay around a $400 budget or else my husband will kill me.

Yeah, I know, he has pregnant gelding syndrome lol

I never did find a close contact saddle that fit jager's withers so i'm afraid i'm no help here. However I will be happy to follow along and see what people suggest. I hope you find something that's just perfect. ;)

I'm trying to. I think if I can find something similar to that Zaldi it would work. It has a pretty deep cutback and cleared Sam's withers.

passier makes a close contact/jumping saddle with a cutback pommel. There's another brand as well, crosby maybe, that did back in the day. The problem i've noticed at least with the older ones is that they're not flocked well enough to get the saddle off the horse's back enough. The wither clearance is technically there but the rest of the saddle sits on the back/spine so it's still a fail imo. :(

If I had the money I'd get a County. The dressage saddle fits on him pretty well.
