Your problem may not only be the top of the gullet hitting his withers but your saddle is also pinching the side of his withers - as indicated by the white hairs. A pad is not going to help since you really need to replace your saddle.

An "A" fork saddle will generally have more gullet clearance then a saddle with a regular fork. Gaited saddles have more flair in the front of the bars but don't give more gullet clearance.

BTW, you have an excellent saddle fitter pretty close to you. Kevin from Southern Trails Saddle, who is also a member here.

Thanks for the reply! The white marks happened before I bought the horse but I think I found a Caldwell Rocket Ultra that s\fits him perfect.

Caldwell is a good saddle and it's made not too far from me in GA. Good luck with it.

I pass by on my way into Atlanta on 85.

You should come up to SC and ride at Clemson some time. Miles and miles of trails.

The Frady Branch trails are riht around the corner from my lake house and I've been dying to ride them, do you guys go there regularly and how are they?
