Prof choice makes great products, but most western people I know LOVE the 5 star pad. I am also an english gone western sort, but from all I have talked to these are top of the line.

You can find them many places, including ebay, for about the same price. I like the contour one personally, gives you "close contact".

I like that these pads have the wool lining. Cheap fleece retains heat and moisture, while natural fibers, like wool and felt, are suppose to wick moisture away and keep your horse cooler. I personally like the larger pads. (34X36).

Here's another vote for the 5 Star Pads. I have the 3/4in in the 32x32, but it depends on what you are going to do. The pads are supposed to be good for 2000+ hours of use. Pricey, yes. Good quality? You bet.

Hello, So I was reading this with interest because I need a new pad and want to get a good one. My budget is limited though, so can you tell me which one you think is better out of these two?

So my parents were suppose to of been getting this for me for christmas but they didn't now which one I wanted so my mom took me to the tack store and I picked one out. She said that I had to wrap it and put it under the christmas tree and be suprised on christmas morning lol but then she let me use instead

This is the one I picked!

Now that sounds like my kind of Christmas present; early and able to be used! Hope it works out for you. :)

SidMit: I can't vouch for either of those pads. However, I'm a big fan of wool (if that one is good quality) for its wicking and heat removal properties. Also, I tend to like wither cutouts for some relief. I've heard that wool may be more grippy than fleece, can anyone vouch for that?

If you go in the wool direction, does that pad come in any different thicknesses? 3/4in is like, the standard size and 1in is for heavy trail, roping, etc - might not want to put another pad over it.
