saddle woes...

I'm not sure whether I'm looking for advice or just needing to vent... but anyone with experience with the particular saddles (or types of saddles) is welcome to give me their two cents!

I bought a new horse who is only 14.2 hh. VERY small, considering I'm 6'. I wasn't necessarily looking for a horse that small, but her personality is amazing and I got her for a song. (not literally... pretty sure people would charge MORE after hearing me sing )

We'll probably be doing a lot of our riding bareback but obviously I still need a saddle kicking around.

My 'old faithful' Western has done me well, but it looks HUGE on her. Considering my size (I'm not overweight, but I'm still really tall) I don't want to add any more weight than necessary.

I had purchased a Kimberly Outback Australian saddle, but I'm not happy with it. It looks just as oversized on her as my Western and I feel rather like a circus clown. It would have worked great on my stocky 15.2 h QH/Percheron gelding, but since I don't have him anymore, that isn't helping.

After doing a little sleuthing online I think I like the looks of the Abetta Endurance saddle - essentially, a really stripped-down synthetic Western.

So... I'm thinking I'll return the Kimberly and most likely order the Abetta. Probably. Since I live in Canada and have to order all these things online (the tack shops in my area are SADLY understocked) the shipping costs get a little high. I'm a little nervous ordering something else online when it might not work out either and also have to be shipped back.

After buying a new horse, sending said horse to a trainer, building a round pen, and adding a new stretch of fencing to the pasture my horsey budget is pretty drained. I could do a new saddle for $400 (or preferably less...) but no more. I know you get what you pay for but that's just the way it is at the moment.

Anyway, so if any of you have bothered to read through my little novella, any thoughts/input on a saddle choice?

(ps - I have checked my local classifieds to see if anybody has anything of interest for sale used - el zilcho.)
