sale at the tack store, and breast collar Q

I had posted these in the picture forum, but decided they fit here as well. I went to out local Co-op, they are moving t a new building and everything was at least 40% off! Caddilac needed a new headstall as her "horse" size one was a little snug, and I couldnt do up the throat latch-so it was removed. And I guess Blitz needed some new *bling*. It isnt that flashy but I don't want to spend a whole bunch of money on something that willl get beat up on the trails. Also scored a set of "things" that you use to to swivel your stirrups to reduce knee fatigue for hubby. What do you thing, are they a good fit? I usually have Blitz's Hack wrapped in black vet wrap to make it more cushy, but I took it off to re-wrap. As it doent last that long. Can't wait till they shed out their winter woolies, Blitz looses the hair on his blaze last, so he looks super goofy

**I will be ordering the matching breast collar for blitz, problem is I finally found a saddle that fits his high withers really well, and it does not have rings for atthing it. I have seen people wrap an attachment through the gullet and around by the horn, how do you do this, what do you need, and does anyone have any good pictures?

Forgot to mention, I am not a fan of chicago screws, that are used on Caddy's headstall, but beggars can't be choosers-draft tack is extremely hard to come by in these parts, most of it is nylon :( keeping a multitool and extra screwshandy is a must when out on the trail)

You can also attach it to the cinch rings and use a wither strap to pull it up in to place.

Does your saddle not have the small D rings at the front? If not you can install D rings under your conchos as the D ring has a piece of metal attached with a hole. Just unscrew the concho, put D ring in place and screw in concho.

Here is the way I converted a regular type of breast collar into the pulling collar that attaches around the swells and through the gullet of the saddle.
Opinions about breast/pulling collars please

smrobs! Thankyou so much for that post! I wasnt sure what a pulling collar was :) Im not really comfortable altering my saddle; it fits really well and doesnt slide around but I am planning on doing some heavy riding in steep terrain, I don't want to get 12 km down the trail and find a problem. I am wondering how many other people have converted BC to pulling collars--more pictures on the set up? I havent seen a pulling collar in any of the local tack stores. Plus I would like to get the matching BC to the headstall I bought :)

I do have an older chestnut colored BC laying around somewhere, I may play around with it a bit and see what I can come up with. I had used it with my old saddle, and now that I think about it--I didnt like how is sat low on the shoulder--like it would restrict shoulder movement if it was acutally tight enought to be effective.

When you cinch your horse just run the straps through the outer wraps, not between the wrap and the horse as there will be pinching.
