Red face Shipping boots and polo wraps?

Okay so I'm hauling across the state in a couple days with two of my horses, but all I have is one set of shipping boots. I'm of course going to put them on my older of the two horses, because she needs more support and will be doing A LOT at the competition and I want to keep her legs safe:P But I want to keep my other horses legs safe to as she is just as important to me!! I found 2 pairs of polo wraps in my tack room and I wondered if maybe there is a way I can substitute them for standing wraps? Would I need those white cloth..things...that I can't remember the name of for the life of me...grrr? Lol please help!! I can't go out and buy another set of shipping boots becuase I don't have the money at the moment!!

I think know what you're talking about... I call them pillow wraps or quilt wraps. Like this?

Also; polo wraps won't be as effective as shipping boots. SB's cover joints like the hocks and the knees and protect them... polo wraps don't cover nearly as much of the leg. Compare

Shipping boots

Polo wraps

In the end a horse standing idly for so long in polo wraps might even be damaging. If they are accidentally wrapped too tight, for example, your horse could lose circulation. I guess if you're careful, they're better than nothin'! :]

Hope this helps!

Do you not have travel bandages over there? Over hee you can get gamgee shaped in the same way boots are and then you bandage over the top of them. They offer more support then boots but I realy don't like bandages on youngsters.

Not only could standing in polos for a long drive be damaging potentially, but shipping boots can be fastened more securely...the polo wraps could get pulled off and your horse could become tangled and fall down in the trailer.

You have to be careful what you use polo wraps for. The best use for them is for support during flatwork. It would be better to have nothing at all IMHO than use polos.
