Should I change the cheekpiece?

So by now some of you have heard about my issues with Bailey. Finding a bit, blahblahblah. Well I started running our barrel pattern in a twisted wire full cheek snaffle.

I was talking to my Mom who seems to think I'm nuts for wanting a full cheek on her. I mean, she's stiff, I'm using the full cheek because she's most responsive in it. We also have a loose ring and a D ring twisted. I explained my reasoning, saying that she is stiff with her flexion and I wanted to really be able to get her nose when we were turning the barrel. Well she didn't seem to like that and told me if I'm going to run in the snaffle at all I should put her in a loose ring or a D ring, because I "Could end up pulling her entire face too far."

I guess I can understand her concern, but the mare works mostly off my leg and I don't even touch her mouth that much except for when we're turning and even that is pretty loose. Do you think I should be changing cheekpieces? Or should I just keep with my full cheek? She works good in the full cheek, so I was mostly thinking "It's not broke, don't fix it!"

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

You're right, it's not broke, don't fix it. If she responds well in the full cheek then keep it on.

I wouldn't change it - especially not to a loose ring. Loose rings can slip around quite a bit and even pinch.

If she's going well, I'd stick with what you're using.
