The first one, definitely. It compliments her nicely.
The second one is wearing HER, not the other way around.

I like the second one. I don't think it is distracting at all.

The style of the first one more simple/flattering BUT the 2nd one fits much better.
Actually if I was having to choose I'd probably pick the 2nd one.It is actually not that overdone. The horse not being as refined in head can pull it off:)

I also like the first one, though is there any way to get the throatlatch to fit her a bit better? It's really too big in that picture.

IMHO, that second one is just too big for her head. It would be more suited to a stud with a large head/jowl than a petite headed mare like her.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

The cheek piece & jowl aren't fitting correctly. You could try Shortening up the crown piece to pull things up.

^^Goes to show you how much I know about show halters.

The closest I've ever really come to one is looking at the one that's been hanging in our tack room for 30 years. I don't even know what all is adjustable on those things.

I say number 1, number 2 has too much to it and shouts out look at me, where the first halter shows you'r mare herself more.

The crown in the first halter is as small as it will go. I would have to punch more holes to get it to fit(which considering I don't have a leather hole punch would be quite difficult

Eclipse, use a nail that's a little larger than one of the holes, and hammer it through. The leather will close in a little. Be sure to space the hole the same distance as the others. Or if you have a drill and drill bit that fit's one of the holes......

I agree with paintedpastures, if you had the first one fitted like the second, you would have a winner!
