    Question Silly question (regarding chaps)

I know this is a bit of a stupid question, but a girl I know who no longer has time for horses is selling a bunch of tack, and among it all are a pair of chaps. I'm only really just getting into the whole horse scene seriously, but is there any point in me getting the chaps?
What purpose do they serve, exactly?

Full chaps are great in the summer! You can wear shorts to the barn and groom and tack up in shorts and when it's time to ride, you put the chaps on. When you're gone, just take them off and you'll cool off so much faster!

They're also good if you go out on trails as they serve as a nice protective layer.

Are they full chaps or half-chaps? Because the two are very different. I've only ever used half-chaps and I definitely recommend them. I don't know what I would do without them! They give a really nice appearance of wearing tall boots and they protect your legs from rubs against the saddle. I also find it gives your legs a better position also, because your pant legs don't get in the way.

Chaps are very nice to have, full or half. They save your legs.

I have never had half chaps but full chaps are a lifesaver in the winter time. Especially when it is windy. If they fit, I would go ahead and get them because as the old saying goes "It is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it."
