Silver on Headstalls

Is it possible to buy silver to put on a headstall ?
I have a one eared headstall and that I had planned on selling so that I could get a new headstall with silver but my barn owner said I could buy some silver to screw onto it . Has anyone every tried this ?

Yes you can. Don't but the Montana Silversmith stuff, it looks like hell after a little while.

When my hubby had a big sewing machine he would build some headstall and we would buy silver from here, or have someone custom build it.

And we have bought old headstalls that the leather was bad on, took the silver off and put it on new headstalls. Have to make sure it has screw backs, not riveted on though.
